GLAUCUS PROGRAM INFORMATION NODE
      General Objective

Development of an information node for data and products, as a support for oceanographic, meteorological and environmental studies in the South American and South Atlantic region, and specially for Global Change related research.

      History

The Information Node of the Marine and Atmospherics Sciences Program (PCMYA) is constructed on the basis of the Glaucus Program, initiated in 1993 in order to provide data and information products needed for the development of some research projects. As the level of activity increases in the area, it was necessary to accomplish a more structured and systematic effort to satisfy the requirements of information of the scientific and non-scientific community, and to facilitate the growth of the node.
Now, the Glaucus Program remains as the main node, that allows a direct access to general resources and materials, and the more specific data and products are located in secondary nodes. This has permitted the centralization of the resources for educative purposes, and other tools and materials. A systematic work of compilation, pre-processing and diffusion of information is currently underway.

      Data policy

We have two kinds of data available :
Type A - Unrestricted : Most of this information consist on regional subsets extracted from global data, which are available at several places in the world. Most of these places are also on the WWW. Other products have been prepared by our group.

Type B - Restricted : Information restricted to the research teams involved in specific research programs. In these cases, you need to contact the PCMYA for permissions and instructions.

In all the cases when the information and resources downloaded are used in a research, publication or report, credit must be given to the original source and to this project. When in doubt, please contact me.
